With the increased crime, violence and nagging bullying that is on the rise in our world, the need for self defense has become more necessary than ever before. Options for a self defense mechanism are abundant, it only depend on preference and passion. Some of these options include Karate, Boxing, and Aikido.
Aikido is a martial art that has a variety of values that it teaches as well as being a self defense method. While other martial arts and self defense methods injure the opponent, Aikido defies these rules. The martial art is more of a peace making method that a fight. It aims at reconciling and creating a harmonious coexistence with the opponent. An Aikido pro does not necessarily fight the opponent but re-directs the fists of the opponent.

Twin Cities Aikido Center
This is a non-profit training center located in Saint Paul metropolitan. It is structured to accommodate both new and advanced students. New students are accommodated in the youth program while those who are better off join the advanced program. The center has morning and evening classes to allow people with different schedules to train at their convenient time.
Apart from teaching Aikido techniques, the center also emphasizes on the need for discipline and etiquette. One of the most observed rules is showing respect to the founder of Aikido O-Sensei. Respect is shown to this man by bowing or kneeling facing at the direction of Kazima (the shrine). The need to observe this and many other rules is explained to be that Aikido is not just any other martial art. It has spiritual and philosophical inclinations.
